A universe of temptations brought to the digital realm

Paradiso is no ordinary cocktail bar. Hidden behind the door of an old refrigerator in a pastrami shop in Barcelona’s El Born district, the project led by Giacomo Giannotti has created a unique universe centered on mixology, creativity, and surprise. It is a space designed to be discovered and experienced—one that has evolved into an international benchmark over the years: in 2022, it claimed the number one spot on *The World’s 50 Best Bars* list, and in 2025, it ranks fourth globally. When Paradiso came to Madstudio, its digital presence failed to convey that dimension. The existing website was functional but lacked the depth required for a brand whose physical experience is built precisely on the unexpected, the sensory, and the extraordinary. The challenge lay in translating that entire imaginative world into the digital realm, ensuring that the encounter with Paradiso began long before a guest ever stepped through the door.

Understanding what makes Paradiso different

Before designing the interface, it was essential to understand the experience. Paradiso constantly plays with the element of discovery: an entrance that doesn’t look like an entrance, an interior that contrasts sharply with the exterior, and a menu where each cocktail is crafted as a unique experience in its own right. The space’s curved woodwork, Carrara marble, Mediterranean influences, and speakeasy aesthetic create a distinctive identity that blends sophistication, experimentation, and a touch of irreverence. Our work began by identifying these elements and determining which ones could be translated into the digital realm without merely replicating the physical space. The website needed to possess its own personality while evoking a similar feeling: curiosity, a desire to explore, and the sense that there is always something more to discover.

Design an experience

The creative direction was approached through an immersive logic. Moving away from a conventional corporate structure, we built a navigation experience in which photography, video, motion, composition, and content work together to immerse the user in the Paradiso universe.

The design uses the screen as a narrative space. Images take center stage, transitions guide the user’s journey, and animations introduce rhythm and surprise without turning interaction into an obstacle. The goal was to strike a balance between impact and usability: creating a website with a strong digital identity that remained intuitive, quick to grasp, and easy to navigate.

A digital architecture ready to grow

Paradiso had evolved beyond being merely a cocktail bar, and the website needed to convey an increasingly expansive ecosystem. Beyond the physical venue and its menu, the content architecture had to accommodate the project’s history, accolades, events, courses, consultancy services, Paradiso Lab, and new brand-related experiences. Today, the project has even expanded internationally, with a presence in Dubai and Ibiza. Paradiso – Paradiso website
We therefore devised a modular, flexible structure capable of incorporating new content and projects while maintaining coherence. The design was not conceived as a static, finished product, but rather as a living digital system designed to evolve in step with Paradiso.

Movement as part of identity

Animation was not conceived as an effect added at the end of the process; from the start, it was part of the website’s visual language.
Transitions, appearances, movements, and scaling effects introduced a temporal dimension that a completely static interface could not offer. Movement allowed us to create moments of surprise and guide the user’s attention, while also translating some of the energy of physical space onto the screen. Every interaction had to enhance the narrative without interfering with navigation. It was movement with intent—not animation for animation’s sake.

A digital identity worthy of an international brand

The project wasn’t about reinventing Paradiso. The brand already had a name, an identity, and a space with an extraordinary personality. Our job was to interpret all that existing value and build the digital environment it needed.
We needed a website capable of providing information, showcasing offerings, and organizing content—but above all, one that could convey a specific feeling. After all, if discovering Paradiso in person means stepping through an unexpected doorway into another world, the digital experience had to be rooted in that same concept: sparking curiosity and compelling the user to keep exploring.
It is a digital experience that doesn’t just explain Paradiso from the outside; it invites you to step inside.
